"At the Well"
From the 1994 American Twin Peaks
Expedition, Tibet. I came across this scene in the courtyard of the Jokhang
temple, holiest shrine in Tibet in the heart of Lhasa. We were enroute to
climb the Tibetan giants, Shisha Pangma and Cho Oyu. Visits to the
monestaries are often highlights of my expeditions and I can't resist
painting their inhabitants. I love the quiet, peaceful atmosphere and the
people dwelling within these ancient buildings.

"Young Monk"
From the 1994 American Twin Peaks
Expedition, Tibet. I met this young monk while exploring the Tashilumpo
Monestary in Shigatse, Tibet's second largest city. The monestary has been
seat to the Panchan Lamas and one of the few left standing by the Chinese
after their invasion of Tibet in the early fifties. This youngster, like many
others I saw, had the look of a very old soul.

"Contentment"
From the 1995 American Kanchenjunga
Expedition, Nepal. We came across this classic scene in a small village in
Eastern Nepal while trekking to base camp. I felt it captured the peaceful,
slow-paced life style of the hill people that is so attractive to Westerners
visiting Nepal. The Nepalese are a warm people and I am very drawn to
them.

"Monk from Lhasa"
While exploring the Barkhor market of Lhasa, Tibet I saw this monk sitting
quietly on the curb watching the crowd shuffle past. He smiled when he saw
me.

near the Moose Head ranch.

"After the Rain" When the rain subsided there was nothing but a beautiful sunset left
behind. I liked the way the road lead your eye back into the scene.

"Old Man From Bhaktapur"
I was wandering the backstreets of Bhaktapur, the ancient capitol of Nepal,
when I happened across this old man. He had the most expressive face I
have ever seen. I had to paint him!
